9 a.m.–4 p.m. • The San Marcos Senior Services Foundation concludes the 2nd Annual Festival of Trees at San Marcos City Hall, 1 Civic Center Drive in San Marcos. Celebrate the season with family and friends while helping raise funds for Interfaith Community Service’s Project Care. The festival features professionally designed holiday trees, a Holiday Boutique offering crafted decorations and gifts, and the opportunity to purchase the perfect tree for your home or office, or both! 5 p.m. • The 31st Annual Fallbrook Christmas Parade will traverse down Main Street, between Ivy Street & Ammunition Road in historic downtown Fallbrook. This year’s theme is “A Patriotic Christmas.” The Fallbrook Vintage Car Club will provide many entries, from early model tin Lizzies to newer, sleek convertibles, carrying federal, state, county and local dignitaries. With more than 120 groups participating, including marching bands, a bagpipe brigade, horseback riding groups and domestic animals. The Rancho Buena Vista Adobe will also be decked out and included in the tour, as will an artisans boutique at one of the homes. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 the day of the event, with proceeds benefiting the Kare For Kids Fund, which provides pediatric care for North County’s underserved children. Learn image transfer, free motion stitching and combine paper with cloth to create your unique art quilt. Bring in scanned art images, aged papers and vintage cloth napkins that evoke a nostalgic or sentimental theme. Materials fee of $5 is paid to the instructor. Moore’s personal narrative is a compilation of his father’s World War II letters to his mother and quotations from period magazines, taking the audience from a Kentucky farm through basic training, Washington, New York, across the Pacific to Okinawa and a race home to avoid missing another Christmas. 10 a.m.–5 p.m. • The Very Dickens Victorian Christmas Craft Faire and Christmas Tree Lighting is at Mount Palomar Winery, 37338 De Portola Road in Temecula. The event will feature hourly performances by the Holly Bells Choir, guitarist Vince Mendoza and his classically trained students. The day long event concludes with the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony with a Victorian Santa Claus, dancers and symphony. A gingerbread house contest and Santa’s storytime will also be included.
