Happy Mother's Day!

By Chelsea Scheer

It’s time to celebrate mothers! Where to start? What to get her? How to celebrate? Each year I try to think of new ways to celebrate with my mother, and I thought I would share some of the ideas I have accumulated over the years.

There is always the tried and true method of pampering your mom on Mother’s Day. If that is your route, and trust me that is always a good route, then have no fear as there are plenty of choices for you. First stop, Salon de’lart Nouveau in Bonsall—give your mom a new cut and color, and maybe a pedicure and manicure. Every girl loves to visit the salon! After her pampering is complete, let her continue on to SoCal Tanning Company in Fallbrook to get a head to toe glow.

If your mom has been hinting at the desire to have some updates around her home, maybe now is the time to grant her that wish. Fallbrook Bath & Kitchen Company specializes in bath and kitchen design and remodeling, or if the outside is what is calling your mom, give Tile by Barrett a call. They consider themselves the artisan of tile, marble, stone, pavers and wood and specialize in waterfalls, paverscapes and outdoor kitchens. If she wants some new landscaping done, Desert Theater Nursery has 18 acres of drought tolerant plants ready to landscape your entire yard. Or, if your mom is looking for the complete interior design package, then have no fear, Susan Rose of Decorating Den Interiors has you covered. From custom window treatments to a whole room makeover, Susan can make it happen!

If your mom is the sporty type, then what about a day of golf with the family? With the links offered at Pala Mesa Resort, Welk Resorts and Meadow Lake Golf Club, there are plenty of options to choose from. If a fitness plan is more your mom’s style, then check out Fit By Design with their personal training, or Curves of Bonsall with their circuit training for a great gift. If your mom loves the pool, then check out Char Snyder’s Swim School. They offer basic swimming through Olympic Stroke lessons.

If your mom is a music lover, treat her to a show at Welk Resorts Theatre. Welk Resorts is proud to present “Stepping Out” through May 20. This comical play feels like a musical—a bunch of enthusiastic amateurs meet weekly in a church hall, with an emphasis on having fun, rather than becoming accomplished tap dancers, but things change when they are invited to perform at a charity gala. Whether they will be able to pull together to razzle-dazzle ‘em is the active question of the play.

Give your cooking mom a break this Mother’s Day and treat her to a meal out. Many of our local restaurants are having specials on that Sunday. Pala Mesa Resort is having an amazing Mother’s Day Brunch complete with an omelet bar, caramel banana baked French toast, gruyere and caramelized onion baked mac and cheese, and much more!

Lastly, don’t forget the card. Finding the perfect card that says exactly what I am feeling and tells my mom how much she means to me is something I spend a lot of time on. I recently visited the family owned and operated A Few of Our Favorite Things shop on Main Street in Fallbrook. They had a great selection of cards and gifts for my mom. They have the most beautiful purses, and I ended up finding the perfect card (all their cards are 50% off!) to give my loving mother this Mother’s Day.

No matter how you celebrate your mother, don’t forget to thank her for the tireless hours she spent worrying and caring about you, the prayers she has said for you and the never wavering love she has for you.

Thank you Mom! I love you!
